Amavi Cellars
Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Holding up extremely well for a 2009. Color was dark, inky from core to rim. The expressive nose was filled with lavender, licorice and black pepper along with ripe black and blue fruit. The palate was clean and bright with more ripe fruit on the front end; the mid palate was expansive with rich but soft tannins, cocoa, black tea, and herbal notes. The finish was surprisingly long and Smokey. I credit balanced acidity for its long life!
