Sourced from their estate vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley, the 2018 ‘Fred’ Syrah is an awesome new terroir-driven wine by a’Maurice. Right away you notice the dusting of white pepper that falls upon tar, bacon fat and shades of violets on this evocative nose. The Syrah shows great verve and sense of tension as beautiful red and dark fruits march on with chocolate, sagebrush and dried herbs on the palate. Beautifully balanced and showing great texture and poise, the 2018 ‘Fred’ Syrah will enjoy a long life ahead of it. Drink 2020-2032- 93

Second tasting two months since last. Moderate extraction, red. Funk, wood, white and green pepper, cherry and eucalyptus notes in nose. Cherry and black pepper flavors, orange and moderate skin astringency on tip of tongue on finish. Needs time to open. Fruit flavors soften while seed tannin bitterness comes through in finish and aftertaste. A wild wine, all herbs and tannin structure with a soft fruit center. Clear this is a Syrah with a maverick winemaker's vision. Not to everyone's taste but memorable

Medium extracted red. Cherry, radish, green leafy veg/green chile, leather, meat, tutti frutti, candied fruit, and white pepper notes in nose. Cherry with length, fruit leather and white pepper notes in mouth, lightly extracted, light tannins overall.

Wow! Anna knows how to craft a premium Walla Walla Sure I, that's for sure. Exhibits the wonderful, dusty minerality and peppery notew that Walla is known for, and lingers like mad! Bold, powerful, seductive.... It doesn't get much better than this...

Very light, fruity. Good wine, not really for me however.

2012 lighter bodied estate Syrah in a similar restrained elegant style as her pretty Chardonnay

Beautiful expression of Syrah. Not a rocks syrah with all the funk, and not a "syrah for cab drinkers" like most other Walla Walla syrahs. Restrained and controlled. Medium body with light tannins and great acidity. Pinot Noir drinkers would understand this wine almost immediately. Perfect food wine.
