A few fun 4th Friday wines from tonight.
This is a producer who I don’t have a lot of experience with as I’ve only had the Cabernet a few times. With 22yrs of age, this is very classic Napa cab. Sweetened vanilla pipe tobacco, fig, cocoa dusted dates and sandalwood aromatics. The palate shows muddled dark fruits, slightly sappy, and has good heft. It hasn’t channeled any savory/herbal/leather notes, just a dense and soft profile dominated by fig and baked mixed berry pie notes. Drinking nicely.

Hit it at its prime. Beautifully balanced Napa CS, fruit forward yet rustic in a way. Didn't detect any acetaldehyde

The nose was like swimming in a jar of black currant jam...and the taste delivered on the aroma’s set up. Just an amazing wine, aging gracefully. Think it could cellar for another 2-3 years and still be at its prime...needed to be decanted, and took an hour or so to open up, but once it did it was spectacular

This vintage of the century did not disappoint! I wish I had a case of it. Alas, it will remain in our memory for a long time. It was beautiful.
