Popped and poured. I recall this wine to be rather reticent right upon opening. The nose wasn't giving up very much and the finish was very short. That changed after about 10-15 minutes of air. At that point, it became quite pleasant, if not a very exciting drink. While there was more than a decent amount of fruit and nothing was really alarmingly out of place, I just didn't find it very compelling. Perhaps it should be noted that it directly followed a 2014 A. Rafanelli Zinfandel which was outstanding. Drink now with a little bit of air.

And then you have this : every feature, every aspect, every scent, every phase of the tasting is perfect. Malbec Zinfandel 2011 was a sure 10/10. The aroma is crisp and clean, the fruit is full, the depth hits early and the smoothness kicks in. Pure velvet but no excess tanins, juicy softness and no acidity. 2011 was at its best in late 2019 but can also wait another year, as you wish. Or have fun: open an Omega Malbec, an Omega Zinfandel and this Omega Malbec Zinfandel!

A wonderful change on a California Zin - Malbec really smoothed things out w/o decreasing the big fruit.
