Monte Hiniesta Toro Tinto de Toro

Vintage 2010 - medium deep colour, quite smooth after 36 hours aeration, a bit of everything in the smell: some tobacco, a bit chocolate, plums and red fruit. Nice acidity. Made of tinta de toro (tempranillo).

Very crushable, giving black fruits. Good little value.

Very smooth Tempranillo. An extremely good wine and a bargain for the price. Will definitely buy again.

First bottle was corked. Took it back and exchanged it at my local wine store and they were more than happy to switch it out. After acquiring the new bottle, I let it breathe for approximately 16 hours before imbibing what was otherwise a fantastic wine. Large plum and blackberry notes brought this magenta toro to life. A hint of spice and mild tannins on the finish left a pleasant intrigue that only spurred the desire for a second, third, and fourth glass.

Violet glass with translucent scarlet rim. On the nose, blackberry, cherry, earth, tobacco, smoke, and vanilla. On the palate is a medium acid wash that adds chocolate to the berries and tobacco. Small sharp tannins lead to a long dry finish. Wine should be decanted to open up with time. This a very good value at $11.99 USD but is a dry Tempranillo (not sweet).

Spot on this is what Toro is all about: grippy tannins, dark brooding fruit, big ol nose of soil, smoke and some leather - well done.

Very nice wine for the price. And actually getting better and opening up a little as it sits.

Great value for 13.99, needs a few minutes to open and taste more balanced. Good with Moroccan pork stew and chickpeas.
