Allegrini
La Poja Monovitigno Corvina Veronese
Mid crimson in colour. Notes of raisin and milk chocolate. Resinous - freshly turned soil and a touch of tar. Great intensity and yet only medium weight on this occasion for an Amarone - the feminine touch of Marilisa Allegrini? One of the 1001 Wines - we loved it.

Oct 9th, 2017Single vineyard %100 Corvina Veronese from the hill top of the La Grola Vineyard which is said to be the birthplace of the grape. Aromas of Plum, wild blackberry, Rosemary, lavender and subtle sweet balsamic. Nearly %15 alcohol but so well integrated. Rich and silky tannins. Drinking beautifully already and has another good 5 years ahead of it. This is a great gateway drug for New world wine drinkers to get into Italian Wine.

Oct 1st, 2015Faded, but still lots of fruit. Red raspberry, graphite and a little red plum on the nose. Slow attack, a little watery in the mid palate, but finished strongly with 5-10 sec finish length of med + concentration of flavors that followed the nose. All in all, an enjoyable wine that was probably special a few years back.
