Found this winery in a small German town in the Mosel valley. Knocking on the door, we met the two +90yr old men, owners who showed us around and invited us for drinks. On the wall there were pictures of both of them from the war 😬😳. In the cellar we tasted many different reislings which were all completely stellar. All amazing and may be peaking now, after 7yrs cellaring. Notes of honey pineapple, lime petroleum baked apple & minerals. Great silky mouth feel. 4€ !!!!?!

Love this. Crisp and clean with snappy green apple, white peach, honeysuckle, lime, gonna of wet rocks, green melon, pears, and it just goes on and on. I want the Merkelbach brothers to adopt me and live in Urzig forever... This is true old-school Kabinett Riesling in all its zippy glory.

Full palate saturation w heaps of acid at 9.5%. @Aaron Tan might call this “a fine kabi”.

2015 Merkelbach Kabinett is juicy & approachable. The album Cloud Corner by Marisa Anderson is a perfect counterpoint with its deliberate pace & nuanced moments. Following the music, the wine unfolds to show beauty beyond the all to easy drinkability
