Absolute stunner. Amazing how this wine is drinking after two decades.

A 2000 Lorraine which I found hiding in the back of my cellar. Aromatic funhouse right from the cork pull. Smokey, anise, blackberries, violets (yes, that's right, violets @Dag Zapatero). Terrific texture. Dark fruits and notes of salty venison. Great structure. Highly extracted and greatly concentrated. Lingering finish. Sometimes I think John Alban gets overlooked when people talk about California Syrah. If you haven't tasted his wines, do yourself a favor and get some.
