Is there anything better than sharing a good bottle of champagne with a friend? Yes. Sharing a great bottle of champagne with someone as you become good friends. The flavors of nostalgia and memories of childhood pair so well with the gorgeous seawater, brioche, lemon pith and wet chalkboard minerality of Champagne, as expressed by Pascal Agrapart, organic maestro of limestone, and in this case Chardonnay. One of my favorite champagnes.

I am such a fan of all things Agrapart! This wine does not disappoint, perfect balance, medium plus acidity, great fruit, and beautiful white and blue flowers!

Clean and crisp and delicate, but lacking depth and interest.

Young! Great clarity, subtle yet highly impactful with its acid spine. I suspect this will really come around with some time to flesh out. Captures the finesse that makes Agrapart such a benchmark for Avize. 5/2017 disgorgement

Chalky minerals, fine thread of acidity, fantastic length. Big citrus and only a little stone fruit but not austere; plenty of juicy mineral complexity.

As we begin to return to dining out, it’s such a pleasure to have a nice bottle of wine outside on a warm day in San Francisco. My friend wanted some good Champagne, so I opted for a reasonably affordable bottle from one of my favorite producers. This is a non-vintage blend of 1-3 years worth of wines from several plots of Chardonnay that Pascal Agrapart farms organically around the Cote des Blancs. It has wonderfully crisp character and a nice unripe apple and pear quality along with its stony, cistern-like minerality and a faint saline note at the end. Mouthwatering and beautifully filigreed.
