Fourth wine tasted at Afton Mountain Vineyards. Bright crimson red. Slight dirty cellar on the nose, with slightly savory on the nose. Smooth and more complex than the Merlot. Some woody, forest and red berry notes throughout. Well rounded. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) with solid acidity. Moderate body, seemed slightly fuller than Merlot too. Moderate plus finish. Drink till 2022.

Still quite young. Nice blend of 41% Sangiovese, 35% Cab, 24% Tannat. I definitely prefer the 2016

Soft supple dessert notes of strawberry and powdered sugar on the nose. Green pepper and wet earth and mushroom palette notes. Finish is medium. Would be amazing but the finish.

Well made wine, not just well made Virginia wine. Earthy black and red fruits on the nose, slightly Brett and dirty. In the mouth, bright fruit and berries, earthy finish. Some unresolved oak. Bright acid and grippy tannins. 13.5% alcohol.
