Big tannins, more acidity than I was expecting. Opened for a couple of hours, placed next to a big piece of beef and something beautiful happened.

Not much fruit at this point, but very interesting baked earth notes.

Comparing two 2010 Sagrantino di Montefalcos. Both opened for an hour first. I thought the Adanti was a bit softer and more aromatic at first. But the Perticaia had more structure, depth and complexity. Decanted the Perticaia for dinner (only have one decanter) and it improved even more. In the past I thought the Adanti had quite a tannic punch. That has faded over the 3 years since I last opened one.

Big everything —tannins, etc. Lots of meat goes with it.

Big and bold. Deep scarlet, heavy, intense flavors. Licorice, spices, cedar, black cherry. Huge tannic punch carrying black olives. And a very long finish. Excellent. But I think I’ll space out the remaining case over the next several years. At 10 yrs old this still has a long long way to go.

This has aged well! Dark cherry with licorice or fennel and some dark chocolate and chalky earthy mild tannins. Well balanced and lovely.

Dark, herbal, heavy, rich. Stewed figs and cocoa with black licorice and chalky soil tannins. Cedar and smoke. Violets and plums. Blankets the 15.5abv well. Enjoyed with fajitas.
