EGW Chardonnay
My thoughts remain that I feel the EGW is worth the price difference over the VGW. In fact, this EGW was really close in quality to their Eola Springs bottling (which I really like).
In comparison to the VGW, this displayed fruit early on instead of taking an hour or so to coax out. Lemon cream, pear, smoky lees/reductive, and soft oak usage aromatics. What I like about this wine (and the Eola) is how the profile on the palate can sport this weightless richness, all while flaunting nervy acidity. There is a beautiful marriage of white peach, grilled lemon, and savory mineral/rockiness at the front of the palate before it adds a bit of heft with marzipan and faint caramel. Great finish. 93+
Like other OR producers, these are a really nice bridge to riper style white burgundy (this one a bit Mersault like).

First experience with this producer. Impressed. Very classically styled.

May 25th, 2020This bottle confirms my love of 00’s whites and still consider them the best Oregon chard producer. Tons of fruit and still light on its feet.
