Interesting Pinot Noir from Sicily. The Calabretta vineyards are located in the back volcanic soils on Mt. Etna's north slope. Calabretta is know more for its Etna Rosso , an elegant wine know throughout Italy. This Pinot Nero is so different from its Burgundy namesake that you might think it not Pinot Noir at all. Much darker in the glass, with a ruggedness not expected of Pinot. Still a bit young, I would give it an hour or two in a decanter. This will go well with most grilled red meats. For the Pinot fans, venture south and try this Sicilian version. #pinotnero#calabretta#sicilianwine#italianredwine#pinotnoir#volcanicwine#lcboredwine#italianpinot#trysicilainreds — 8 years ago
