I would never pay 300€ for this but it is an amazing wine. Plums and cigar

Aug 22nd, 2020After the first bottle was DOA - we moved on to an old reliable. Very tight immediately after opening. Decanted and it needed 45 to 60 minutes to open. It did so beautifully. Rounded and hefty. This was delicious. Fruit was very present but always in balance. Such a treat. Will consume over two nights to see how it evolves.

Aug 2nd, 2023Part of Super Tuscan Horizontal tasting. All 2016 vintage Masseto, Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Solaia, Tignanello, Redigafi, and a mystery bottle (Phelps Insignia). Blackberry, blueberry, pepper, oak and vanilla, well balanced, good mouth feel, long graceful finish. Hard not to love this vintage of Solaia but it was not a standout among the others. (But some pretty stiff competition)
