Tensley
Colson Canyon Vineyard Syrah

Sweet and concentrated. Really wonderful syrah character with pipe tobacco, amaretto and cherry cobbler. Only complaint is this is not very refreshing. Very extracted and a mouth stainer.

A wine of immense pedigree and stature, the 2018 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard captures the essence of Joey Tensley's style. Soaring aromatics, dense fruit and beams of tannin shape a Syrah of intense richness and savory depth. The Colson Canyon Syrah is a wine of tremendous dimension that gets better and better with time in the glass. Cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, iron and bright red fruit build into the palate-staining finish. All I can say is: Wow!! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2020)

From a Syrah specialist in Central Coast, this shows a profile of ripe blueberries and blackberries, accented by violets, dark roast coffee, and a hint of dried herbs. On the palate, it's full-bodied and powerful, though it comes across as slightly over-extracted, with firm, grippy tannins that need time to settle.
A solid wine, but I think there are better options in its price range.

To much FOMO from looking at @Paul T- Huntington Beach ‘s Korean short rib posts so had to order my own. To young, but the wine will be an absolute rockstar in a few years.

Deep dark ruby coloration. Full bodied and rich. On the nose, dark cherry, plum, berry, jammy, vanilla. On the palate, prunes, dark cherry, plum, sweet and jammy, oak, vanilla and a long finish

Inky deep purple in color with a nose of blackberries, black plums, peppered meat, and a hint of lavender. Full-bodied with good fruit up front with firm acidity and great balance. The finish lingers nicely.

Very rich, ripe, sweet fruit. A little bit of bacon on the nose. Needs the wiry, dry tannins that come around on the mid palate and balance out the finish. Nice lingering blueberry-beef jerky thing.
