The 2016 Flaccianello della Pieve is a truly special, moving wine. There's not much more to say. The 2016 was epic when I tasted it last year. It is every bit as memorable today. Beautifully layered, the 2016 possesses remarkable finesse and power. All of the natural intensity of Panzano's Conca d'Oro comes through in a wine that dazzles from start to finish. As always, Flaccianello showcases the darker side of Sangiovese. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020)

Medium ruby . Quite reserved , spiced red fruits and mineral hints . On the palate this is really concentrated and mineral but really quite young and intense . Lots of high acidity and grippy tannins , very saline and mineral on the long vibrating finish . Come back in 5-10 years and will last well a further 10 . At Vinous Icons NY , Pier 60 , Feb 2025

Fantastic half bottle. Definitely in the zone now. Ripe fruit harmoniously weaved and great structure. Thoroughly impressive.

Dec 28th, 2024Medium ruby core , little more lighter garnet rim . Quite aromatic , spicy red plum , pine resin , red cherry and herbal , tobacco hints . On the palate a little richer and denser than the 2021 , herbal tinged red and dark fruits , pretty high acidity with more dusty tannins . Overall a bigger more structured tannic framed wine . Very long and powerful on the finish . Mineral and fresh summer fruit finish . This is very young still needs probably another decade , but is very promising . Balanced but powerful . Will probably have a longer life than the more refined and elegant 2021
