2005 vintage. Weirdo encounter. A fave Burg producer. Decanted with barely noticeable sed. Tasted after 15 minutes, 45 minutes and 1.5 hours. Plummy, fresh mud nose. Medium body with a aged Syrah grape impression. Spearmint, that dark plum, hint o’ cinnamon and rhubarb in the nose and frontal + mid palates. Back end is where the fun ended and the intrigue began-consistently. Just could not shake a consistent and persistent iodine/saline finish that dominated, despite the temp or amount of air. Was similar to that aftertaste of gargling with hot salt water to eliminate a sore throat mixed with a dropper of zinc… = iodine finish. The front 2/3rds was so promising. 6.13.26.
