Part of an insane Aussie lineup which is a part of the world I have very little familiarity with. This was a standout and one of the few to show any kind of old world sensibility. A true unicorn that I may never get to taste again. And look at that color on a 30+ year old wine!

This was in rude health at 36 years of age. Would have held for at least a decade or two longer. But a wonderful time to be drinking it, with lively fruit and freshness still present along with secondary and tertiary complexities folded in. A gorgeous smooth ride across the palate, with fine and elegant tanning structure, dark fruit, savoury notes of olive tapenade, and a long, lingering finish. Perhaps even more time in decanter would have opened things up even more.
