Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend

1995. Lost something. But sure. In great shape and historically lovely. What a treat

The wine was in much better condition than the label! Kept in a damp but reliable cellar. Saying that, it was perhaps a little more muted than expected. Left for a good while but didn’t really open up more in the glass. Still, it was a pleasure to drink.

Bretty as all fuck, but I actually enjoy that, as too many wines are going down the pristine route now, I think if we lose these funky gems then French classics will have become just like all the rest.

Juicy, soft & luscious, surprisingly elegant with fresh dry tannins on finish behind a liquorish mid pallet.

The real McCoy, a mighty fine expression, even more evolved the next day

In a perfect window to enjoy. Really great pairing with duck breast.

1995. This had the potential to be a great wine. All the stuffing was there but there is just too much Brett.

Black currant, tobacco, and smoke on the nose. Tame and loving in the mouth. Killer finish. No Brett? Wonderful now and for at least 5 more years. #Beaucastel
