Riserva Ovello Barbaresco Nebbiolo

Cherry liqueur nose, very pretty if a little one-note at the moment. Attack is deceptively sweet, but soon turns into electric kool aid acid, tempered by a lovely crystalline texture. Then some green medicinal herbs join in through the long fuzzy-tannic finish. Ripe but oh so fresh, concentrated but feather light, just intense enough... good things to come.

More eucalyptus and licorice than Asili 2014 and Pora 2014. Orange peel, lavender, rosemary, dried earl grey tea leaves. High/harsh acidity, elevated tannins - medium granularity in terms of texture, medium+ body. Medium+ finish. Clay and limestone.

No wine as consistent and as good over the years as the Ovello. Needed quite some time to open up but than 💥 No hurry, it’s just entering its prime

This is wonderful. More tannins, savory herbs, cigar box, tart cherries, blood orange, amazing with food.

2013/2015 will improve with bottle aging 5 years+

A little hazelnut on the nose at the end. Lighter body and good acidity but with a little spice and earthiness at end.

Young and restless. High toned cherry and what feels like a saddleful of leather and woodsy notes. Stunning now, would be even better in a few years

This Barolo was singing...decanted it. Excellent finish

Tasted blind. Palate. Almost thick. Later season cherry Spice. Dense. Snack in the face. Fine and grippy. Dense.
