Did not have a decanter so I just let it open up in the glass and did it ever open. Upon first pouring, it hits your nose hard with alcohol.... There is some fruit but it's hard to get to it with all the alcohol. After an hour or so in the glass, it opens wonderfully to tobacco, cedar, raisins, plums, just that sweet pipe smell. On the palate, very complex with raisins, caramel, toffee, plums, some chocolate.... Just a great complex wine.
