Medium ruby , medium wide garnet rim . Quite open and exuberante , lots of sweet red cherry, raspberry and touch of menthol and sweet spices, hickory . Quite sweet profile. On the palate this has nice spice and menthol hints , sweet red cherry fruit , ripe tannins , but with good grip, quite gritty with good length . Balanced acidity , touch of alcohol noticeable . Overall quite sweetly red fruit focussed , pure and expressive. This is showing quite well , though still young and fruit focused. Probably better in 3-5 years and will continue to show well over the next 10 years or so .

This is quite closed at first , after a sweet spice and sweet , quite heady mix of strawberry , raspberry , dark cherry, menthol and a meaty , porcini note . On the palate this is quite sweet and juicy , with raspberry , smoky cherries and strawberry , and the menthol , liquorice hints . Quite grippy but ripe tannins and balanced acidity . Slightly heady alcohol but the sheer intensity of the wine leaves it balanced . Good summer fruit , spiced liquorice tinged finish . Needs a bit of time , probably better in 5 years and will continue well for a further 5 to 10 , maybe longer .

Dec 14th, 2019Quite deep and complex on the nose giving only a fraction away. Quite deep dark fruits , anise . In the mouth, lots of ripe black fruits , velvety but grippy tannins. Always the sign of a great wine is the ability to change in the glass , this has that in spades . Now becoming more floral , violets, rose . More feminine. Hugely long on the finish , with a wonderful balance of acidity , and a saline touch. Drinkable now , enjoyable , however really merits keeping to improve further a few more years. A great wine .

This was a later in the evening pop and pour decision. I was shocked how ready and generous it was. An excellent example and reminder that sometimes we overthink things a bit. This will certainly cellar well, but showed beautifully right now.

Apr 23rd, 2017The nose on this is pure, ripe & focused. Bursting cherry aromatics with a delineated smoky accent. Absolutely stunning palate with a shockingly accessible sense of balance in such an early stage of development. Structured, yet completely fresh & bright. That light smokiness from the nose follows on the back of the palate. This will cellar beautifully, but will also be very hard to leave alone in the near term.
