Holy crap... was corked! Giovanni he's a true wine artisan, caring in ascetic worship his 1.8 ha of vineyard called "Paiagallo" from where he pulls out just a phenomenal Barolo: inviolable tradition, little sulfur, foot-pressed grapes, indigenous yeasts, aging in large old cask "botte grande". Such a curse that this time I couldn't enjoy this extremely elegant wine because of the miserable taint of trichloroanisole (TCA) in the cork.

A gift for the Franks for my first time at Frankie’s Spuntino. In the same vein as Rinaldi but with a more rustic and herbal expression. Truly a show stopper. Rides that perfect line between wild and elegance. Ink and tar and flowers and just full joy. Have had many bottles that were cooked or just plain off. So thrilled to get these from the source

Way too young, but no doubt that this will be a stellar wine in 10-15 years. If my taste buds hold out, this will be worth waiting for.

The best sip was the first where it had incredible complexity. Over time it got bigger but I feel like it hid the crazy complexity a bit. What was left was a more savory style of Barolo with beautiful fruit also. Obviously a 2010 Barolo is a baby. Can't wait for ten years from now besides that I'll be 50. Actually I take that all back. Ten years from now will suck and this wine may be one of the only good things.

Lots of red and dark fruits, but also quite powerful and significantly more tannin. Needs some time to calm down but it is definitely one to look out for
