Château Pradeaux
Bandol Mourvedre
Needed two days to really stretch its legs but by that time the tannin monster had also arrived. This bad boy is all kinds of crunchy red and dark fruits. Tannins on Day 1 were stiff but doable. Day 2 and they were positively punishing...but there was also more fruit on display along with a fantastic spine of minerals and acid that makes the finish seem to hang in there forever. And what incredible texture! There’s a phenolic thing that gives it a red rope licorice vibe to it. What a fun wine but these really need a weather balloon full of air if you’re thinking of drinking now.

May 19th, 2015Recommended by the som for a Bordeaux feel at a lower price point after explaining we like mineraly, earthy wines like an etna rosso. Dry. Delicious. Very enjoyable and glad we tried something new.

Mar 5th, 2022Somewhat boring from the half bottle but probably my fault for not giving it the required time to open up

Nov 8th, 2020The pinnacle of Mourvèdre for us. Taking into account that it’s certifiable infanticide to drink a Pradeaux < 10 years of age, a decant will calm the animal spirits, and besides, there are pleasures to youth, hardly wasted. Un vin sauvage, earth, clay, bramble, meat, leather, long finish, bitterness but not too astringent. Drink from here to eternity.
