Gorgeous aromatics of that classical Trimbach CFE style…nose of petrol, Anjou pear, slate, limestone, and minerality. The palate borders on flabby, but part of me thinks it’s due to where it is in its evolution, because the longer it was open, the more dialed in it got. Normally 12yr old CFE is quite young, but most signs point toward this being a relatively accessible version. Certainly not zippy or racy, but the weight it carries is excellent. Rounded profile but not rich. Floral and fresh, and in no way sweet (as expected).

First time I've tried the '09, quote indicative of the vintage, warmer year has thrown a little more kerosine at this time, a slight chemical bite also that reminds you of an Australian style.
