Lagier Meredith
Mount Veeder Syrah
Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley, California, USA

Having a glass of this while I prepare Rajat Parr’s braised lamb shanks (garlic and Indian spices). This is going to pair perfectly! The florals and spices are so pretty! Smooth, ripe raspberries, black plum, with a great finish.

Perfect #DrinkNapa Labor Day BBQ wine! Equally delighted by the northern Rhone-esque beauty of this mountain Syrah and the news that Lagier-Meredith's barrel recovery has saved much of last year's vintage!

As someone previously mentioned, it smells like bug spray but not in a bad way. The 2011 has dark concentrated fruit flavors but less ripe. It's a bit more acidic. The herbal notes really shine through in this wine along with some earth. The wine has a long spicy finish. The 2011 is definitely more Rhone.
