Tobacco, stinky red fruit, tar, black cherry. Pure and lean and muscular. There’s a purity to this on the palate- a real intense yet lifted red fruit influenced/ leather fruit. There’s a whiff of mint on the finish. Very good.

Darker and plummy in color. Rounded and good fruit. Gnarly stuff, dried rose and sour cherry. Balanced. Slightly drying at the edges.

This is quite impenetrable. Dark fruit/ on the nose brooding, almost inky blue fruit. Underneath blackcurrant, slate, black pepper, tarriness. Then in the palate pure, pure dark fruit and lean minerality. An exceptionally well preserved bottle, but a long time ahead. Great balance.

Double decanted and served 18 hours after. Powerful from the opening and in really great shape. A superb bottle with some air, extremely layered.

No rush, kept improving in the glass after a double decant.

Complex, needs to be stored excellent. Lots of flavors thru the finish. On the edge, but so drinkable now. Fragile, so drink as soon as you can.

A woody, stinky nose with tar, and austere dried cherries. After a few hours of air this is expansive and delicious. Wide, with the fruit hanging in but great complexity. A very serious, old school wine but delicious and interesting... the last sips this is really open and singing

Once the funk has blown off a broad riper nose. Soft. Long on cherry and plummy fruit with softer Barolo elements. Resolved wood, hints of herbs. Quite intense. Excellent

Wow, this bottle is magical. 1971 is one of the great vintages of #barolo and the #brunate #cru is spectacular. Glad I got to enjoy this tonight. Certainly showing age but still full of power.
