Deep and rich in color. Cool blooded and intense on the nose. Black cherry, plum, iodine, first floor. Super pure and rich but light. Incredible balance and precision. Cool blooded. Very long, very 99. Wow

Dark fruit, rock pool, iron, deep soulful stuff. Very earthy and intense. Yum.

Maybe I’m not objective because of such fond memories of smelling this in the tank and tasting its two predecessors en barrique with Hubert on our honeymoon. But I can’t imagine this being any better than it was last night on our 25th anniversary.

Mellow and fairly balanced, but lacking the depth and complexity you want from this site at this age. Might just need more time, because after three hours it was still reticent and tannic. Not "closed" but maybe shy, I'd say.

1999 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche burgundy. Dinner at The G w J&L B and B&K K. Big wine dinner, starting with a 1958 Borgogno and followed by this wine. We decanted this immediately upon being seated and let it breathe for a good hour before pouring. Still huge and a little tight at first, but opened up pretty quickly in the glass. Just got better and better. Big hit.
