Château de Saint-Cosme
Côte-Rôtie Serine

From magnum. Some storage issues I believe. Cured meats, spice, celery, tobacco, dried herbs, minerality and nice acid. Though stored improperly, still pretty.

A contribution to our 4th of July celebration from what I believe is the oldest winery in Gigondas, dating back to the 15th century (but the fruit in this cotie-rotie is purchased from growers in the Northern Rhone valley). A really dark crimson in the glass, a distinct smoky flavor profile with herbs, fennel and leather. Lots of tasty grit. A nice final compliment to a day with my youngest daughter boating, grilling and watching fireworks from the roof.

Jul 6th, 2017Very nice. Maybe a bit too much manipulation for my liking, but well-structured. Another couple of years may tone down the barrique bomb component.
