As good an example as is possible to imagine of this wine. Very cloudy, ruby colored in the light. Much more purity on the nose with leather, dried leaves, closet. On the palate the wine still has a red fruit quality alongside gorgeous tar, leather and cloves. Long finish. Drinking this was a lovely way to ring in my birthday.

1985 vintage. Decanted and open 3.5 hours before tasting. Oh hell yes. Can go another 3-5 years in this end-game, optimal drinking window, Beguiling nose filled with feminine cocoa powder. A flavor/tasting sense of eternity here. Underrated property that usually gets plenty of recognition but ages better than expected. Would/will take a meh vintage of L'Evangile vs a solid/great vintage of many comparable Right Bank properties. 8.19.23.

Stunningly luscious dark fruit flavors and chewy soft tannins that lead to a haunting finish. Superb now should hold up well for the near term
