This Sangiovese is surprisingly big and bold, with strong smoky black currant flavors and lots of thick mineral flavors. We paired it with dijon crusted chicken thigh and roasted Brussels sprouts, but it is such a big wine for a Sangiovese it would have paired better with a steak dish!

Food and table wine for sure. High acid with chewy tannins. Typical old world sangoviese showing sour cherries, red currants, blue berries, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, leather, and potpourri. Simple but true expression.

Tobacco and melon. A little tart but a fair Sangiovese. Castillo is hit or miss. This wine is in the middle.
