The 2020 Croix de Labrie is rich, sumptuous and a real head-turner. Jammy dark fruit, blood orange, mint, cinnamon, sweet oak and mocha are all amplified. Plush, silky tannins wrap it all together beautifully. The 2020 is opulent and flamboyant, but also remains light on its feet, showing impeccable balance and tons of class. 2020 primeur. A spectacular effort from this tiny estate. 92 % Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep dark red. Impressive nose, even at this stage, with black and red fruit, flowers and subtle spices shining through the slightly smokey classy oak. Impressive concentration with layers of fruit, perfectly balanced acidity, well-integrated fully ripe tannin and a knock-out finish with retronasal fruit and spices. This is absolutely of Premier Grand Cru Classé level.

2018 vintage. Small estate with female winemaker Axelle Courdurié. 96% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet sauvignon. Concentrated, profound and long. Perfectly integrated (new) oak. Already very attractive this young. Delicious and expensive (around 100 euros). Abv. 14,5%.

2015. 6.2 acres total, tiny production. 700 cases total +- mix of clay, calcerous soils. 85 merlot, 15 cab franc. tank fermented, malo in small FR barrels. native yeast fermented. cured meat. herbal, ripe cherry, hint of floral secondary-> Cab Franc. very flavorful on palate with an ethereal mouthfeel. concentration without density moderate + acid. Rate 8.
