Lutum
Gap's Crown Vineyard Chardonnay
Sonoma County, California, USA

Hmmm. More weight to it than I would like. Screams Sonoma Coast.

13’ Lutum Gap’s Crown Vineyard Chardonnay. This certainly is not what I expected. Not in a bad way!
Color- Pale yellow. A yellow-dull green tint to the core of it.
Pour a glass & let it open up & warm up for about 15 minutes. Palate- WOW ... so much going on. Crushed rock, white peach, white pepper. Ripe & tart, wrapped in a blanket of acidity. The back of the palate has a bit of creaminess to it. The acidity slowly fades towards the end. Extremely well-made wine. Drink them up!
I’ll have to get my hands on some 2015 for sure!

From one of our newest california AVA's, Gap's Crown. This wine's a flirt: slab of malo, cantaloupe/papaya/pumpkin, and browning apple. Bottle says it's grown on clay soils and it's pretty upfront with that. Some rubber or glue here too on the nose and texture. Like zero citrus notes.. veeeeery smooth and subtle acid I'd give it a 5/10 it's like a slow wave. A little extra floral for Chardonnay and I think the nose exceeds the palette. Honestly let this open up because 30 minutes later I'm enjoying it levels more. Finally this wine was picked because I was looking through my stash for a wine that pairs with lord of the rings lol. Good wine for sure. 14.4%

Mar 3rd, 2018Peaches, melons and pineapple leap from the glass. Solid mouthfeel because of the excellent acidity however the excellent raw material that lurks is pushed back by the oak.
