Mature and really nice. Nose has very pure, ripe dark berry fruit with a ripe peach note, smoky embers, and gravel. In the palate it’s soft and mouthfilling, with a rich texture that is not overbearing. Loads of stony minerality in a long finish. Tannins resolving.

Wonderful white pepper on the nose (and initial palette) followed by a hint of fig and or prune. This is a delicate, but elegant wine. On the palette white pepper and red plum with a hint of luxardo cherry. Very interesting!

The other day someone asked me what my favorite grape was and for some reason I blurted out “Mourvedre!”. My answer to that question will always differ depending on what is in the glass in front of me, but Mourved is a big part of what I love in Rhone and Bandol (and their North American counterparts). This is a tasty, but young wine. Fresh and lively, Mourvedre always strikes me with how light and pretty a wine it is. This has plenty of years ahead, but it’s tasty and pairing well with almost any food right now.
