On it's way downward. I'd say one of those examples of "too hot to age". Black currant/plum/leather/chocolate/cayenne nose with a backdrop of licorice candy. The palate is falling apart though. All alcohol.

At first we thought we waited to long- but it opened up and went great with the filet.

Another monster offering from Ferrari-Carano. Thought I should try this after the success of the Back Forty. Really big syrah note after opening, and seemed like a candidate for decanting, but came together quickly, for a very tasty and balanced glass. Ripe and rich, but conversely earthy and complex. Big blackberry tempered by currant, violets and sweet maduro tobacco notes, without becoming too jammy, or too verbose. #westface #ferraricarano #cabernetsyrah

A wonderful rich nose of blackberry jam, violet plums, prune almost with red cherry syrup and sweet spices. The kind of body that is silky with red currant and red raspberry jams. Finishing with some herbaceous thyme and green bell peppers.

Paired with a prime rib and potatoes.
Nice nose, complex , medium tannins with a nice finish. What else could I ask for?
