What a great 100% Barbera from Agliano.
DOCG

Dark ruby in color with an inky rim.

Medium bodied, and smooth, with nice long legs.

Nice, fruity nose with blueberries, blackberries, cherries, strawberries, wood, vanilla, licorice and black pepper.

Dry on the palate, and smooth with strawberries, cherries, red currants, earth, blueberries, forest floor, blackberries, spices and peppercorn.

Long finish with full, round tannins.

Really big on the palate with a full mouthfeel. Good now and will mature wonderfully in the next 5 years.

15% alcohol by volume.

Fermentation was done in stainless steel vats, for 15 days. Aged for 12 months in French and Austrian oak barrels.

A big zinny Barbera that went well with Cinnamon's incredible meat balls. I got lucky when I met that girl!

Bee awhile since I've had this producer. Why you gotta be so reductive?

A truly superior(e) 2010 Barbera d'Asti, the experience admittedly enhanced by the John Coltrane/Johnny Hartman LP that accompanied it (pasta was also involved)

A little spicier than I expected in a Barbera but delicious.

Moderate ruby violet. Dark cherry, vanilla, licorice, cedar, and hints of tar on the nose. Round and soft on the palate with dried red fruit, medium+ acidity, relatively low tannins, 14% alcohol, and medium length. Made from 100% Barbera aged in large neutral oak casks. Pleasant with spaghettini and homemade meatballs.
