Aging beautifully! Still loads of currant and lavender. Add a touch of iodine and some more black fruit, mix with lean tannins and fine acidity. Here is to Maryland wines!

Top wine of the night. Incredible. And from MD.

The '13 seems to hit a special note for me. Everything I enjoy in Syrah is here; savory herbs, games meat, iodine, blackberries and black currants, and lavender. The tannins are sleek and starting to integrate well. I suspect by Autumn, this will really kick ass.

Third red from Black Ankle and first Syrah. Bright ruby red. Love the nose, slight iron and savory notes. Slightly stinky and almost a note of compost. Palate had some slight greenery and savory notes. Undertones of red fruits too. Moderate tannins (7/10) with some nice acidity. Moderate body and long, lingering finish. Will gain some nice complexity with time. Drink till 2025.

Black Ankle Vineyards is consistent and this world-class Syrah is consistent with my June '15 notes. Delicious!

Lean tannins, red and black currants, dark fruits, violets, and a note that one can only find in a Black Ankle Syrah. This is a world-class Syrah that beautifully reflects its sense of place. Maryland can certainly show terroir well!

Well-balanced wine, nicely concentrated fruit, mature "gripping" tannins. Got better the longer the bottle was open, but it wasn't open long enough before it was empty...

Great flavor, but a little light for a Syrah
