The nose reveals; ripe blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum, poached strawberries & blueberries. Vanilla, graphite, crushed granitic soils, steep black fruit tea, hints of pepper, fresh tobacco, fruit cola, light dark fruit liqueur notes with fresh red floral and violets.

The body is full with dark, big, meaty, tarry, sweet tannins. Fruits are nicely ripe. Blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum, poached strawberries & blueberries. Vanilla, graphite, crushed granitic soils, steep black fruit tea, hints of pepper, fresh tobacco, fruit cola, light dark fruit liqueur notes with fresh red floral and violets. The acidity is very nice. The long, rich, ripe, well balanced and elegant. Beautiful wine. Best wine of the tasting.

Photos of; Waterford tasting bar, large oak vats- wood use is gently on their wines, cellar staff working the 19 vintage and their Estate vine surrounded with lush green vegetation and mountains.

Forth red wine on the wine drive at Waterford. This is the flagship bottling at the Waterford Estate. Deep ruby red with slightly lighter edges. Interesting nose with violets, black raspberries, light olives and some red cherries. Medium plus to heavy tannins (6.5/10) and full bodied. Needs a little bit of time to integrate. Layered palate with dark berries, spices, sweet spices too, pepper and graphite. Very dry and long finish. Drink from 2018 till 2028.

A blend of as many of the 11 varietals grown on the estate, this specific bottling is made up of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Shiraz, 14% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, 6% Mourvèdre, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Barbera and 2% Sangiovese. Aged for 21 months in 25% new French oak barrels and only 56 barrels produced or around 1,400 cases.

Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. A nice bit of spiciness on the palate with notes of peppercorn, dark cherries and earthy notes. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2023.
