This was nice and big. High alc. Earthy, funky, dark, figs and blackberries. Lots of tannin. Aging well.

I was surprised by this wine. Honestly l, I've never heard of Bill Hill or Prime Solum. I was pleasantly surprised. Intense red and black fruits with notes of cedar box tobacco.

2013 Prime Solum Broken Rock Vineyard Cabernet Franc:
Medium to deep purplish ruby red. A little elegant attack on the nose with perfumes notes which leads into cinnamon and dark berries. Similar palate but with a solid earthy undertone. Moderate tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2027. Only 22 cases produced.

Super small production out of the Broken Rock Vineyard in Atlas Peak, only 292 cases produced. Mix of ruby to purplish red. Rich nose with baking spices and black fruits. Moderate plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered palate with cinnamon sticks, blackberries and a little gravel in the long finish. Drink till 2027.

This is actually the 2013 Prime Solum Broken Rock Vineyard Merlot.

Super small production out of the Broken Rock Vineyard in Atlas Peak, only 38 cases produced. Deep garnet red. Tied up nose with just notes of stewed black berries and cherries with cinnamon undertones. A bit earthy on the palate with dark crushed gravel layered with black cherries, dark cocoa and a touch savory. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium bodied. Tons of acidity and structure. Long finish. Drink till 2024.

Smooth multilayered delicious merlot that doesn’t drink like a lot of merlots. A nice surprise and loved it! Small production, single vineyard. You can taste the love and care that was put into this wine.
