2019 vintage. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot (33%) and a high percentage of Petit Verdot (15%). Another gorgeous sexy Bordeaux that probably sells for a song.

What a superb wine is this 2003 Ch. Arnauld from the Haut-Médoc, located between Margaux and Saint Julien. For its age and considering the difficulty of the vintage, this is a very accomplished Bordeaux and goes down as a highlight of the year for me.

The nose is overtly spicy, with scents of clove and orange bitters among the dark cherry fruit. The palate is full of vigour, featuring tart cherry, cedar, graphite, a touch of vanilla and plentiful acidity. Even the fine grained tannins are well placed in this eighteen year old wine. Impressive stuff.

This very English-style claret was perfect with homemade meat pies and peas! The wine is open and soft at 14, with Margaux like aromatic generosity, supple, well developed texture and very gentle alcohol (12.5%). Best of all, it is a giveaway at $18.99. We bought a case.

Bistro style Bordeaux at its best. This light, crunchy cab still had texture, length an interest. Fourteen years seems perfect for a wine like this. Great with leftover pork shoulder open face sandwiches with homemade mayo!

Good vintages in Bordeaux often bring me more pleasure than great ones. They are ready earlier and have less of a tendency to shut down. It is also hard to get pleasure from a bottle that you can't buy! This old school 14 year old washed down our steak the way claret should- in big mouthfuls! It had tea leaf complexity, open kirsch like fruit and cleansing acid!

What a great value in claret! This soft, aromatic, easy going Haut-Medoc is at its peak of drinkability with lots of sweet black fruit and savor. It was a great partner for meat pie, but would be just as happy with a simple chicken dish.
