Should have saved this for Turkey Day. Rich, lush and balanced. Concentrated berries, flinty and freshness. If you find this, grab it. I may have to go back looking for this bottle. I can now understand why this is also know as black reisling. #wine #bechtheimer #schwarzriesling #weinreich #trocken #rheinhessen

Very cool new find. Didn't even know they were making Pinot Meunièr in Germany, so I learned something new. Light, a little smoky, and infinitely quaffable.

A lot like a bright, light, fruity, unoaked Cali pinot(which makes sense, since the grape is a pinot noir clone). Not bad, especially for the price. (Got It for $19)

This is a red wine. Delectable has misidentified the grape.

This may be my first dance with Black Riesling, but it won't be my last. This surprised the heck out of me. I knew very little about German wines and absolutely nothing about Black Riesling before I opened this bottle. A really purty cherry color and nose. Hot, spicy, and so fresh. Easily one of the freshest wines I've ever tasted. Looks like Pinot Noir, same body and mouthfeel, but a different experience. Stunning stuff, you have to get some.

schwarzriesling aka pinot meunier is rare to find outside the champagne region, and in a still wine from germany is niche galore...
look and feel like a pinot noir, colourwise, nosewise, mouthwise.

this bottle was "VOM STEIN", a single vineyard growth, barrique aged.
bit too young and slightly harsh this wine fitted nice to a wild catch salmon, beetroot, fennel and herbal cream, though.

there is a little brother of this one - meunier village ("bechtheimer schwarzriesling"), unoaked and a big player for little money!
