Rivery. Dry vanilla on hot fig and black currant compote. Muddy. Gooseberry, blackberry, vacillates between rock freshly lifted from muddy shallows, and a sweet basil note, maybe even a tiny bit of candied mint on cedar. Absolutely effluent and streamlined to the mineral rich finish complete with bay leaf and a wisp of smoked truffle.

With a nose like a damp cistern full of river plants, pepper and dried prunes, this black cauldron of fruit and iron mineral magic swims with reptilian potential. Tail of Newt. Becomes somewhat stemmy and tannins seem grainy in the glass long after the witchcraft, but still worth its weight in broomsticks despite the wart on its chin. Oh, and only cost me a low and lucky 13.99!

Complex nose of dark fruit, as well as wet leaves, earth. Less complex to taste. Medium high tannins, with low acidity. Balanced. Earthy. Good qpr.

This is a dark and rusty wine with very light soapy cherry blowing off it’s surface…but in a good way. On the nose this is NOT fruit forward.  Medium bodied with black pepper on the finish, not too tart going down the gullet…a nice finish.  It’s very well balanced, this wine…with only a very slight sour note on the back  of the throat during the finish.  It’s dry on the pallet but only just so.  I'm rating this a solid 8.8. I will buy this wine again...very nice!

Good structure of tannins, yet refined notes of leather and spices. Nice minerality--not fruity. Macy's $17.
