Way too oaky and ripe when first approached. Three hours in, things have calmed down. The sweet oak has receded and the wine has become leaner and more coherent. I think this wine needs a few more years in bottle. Great structure. Could be something special down the road.

Lightly fruity aroma, opaque purple appearance, moderate but forward tannins with a finish of dark fruits, currant and plum.

Still got a lot of tannins. Tannins up front. I don't know if this will ever come into its own. The 2008 won the sf chronicle wine competition.

I'll start by saying that my co-worker (who has a solid wine palate) enjoyed this one a lot. For me, it didn't really offer anything I hadn't seen before. Typically I score reasonably well for affordable cabs that perform without excelling but there wasn't much going on here. Nicely paced finish, relatively robust, way too much sediment.
