Massive wine with almost black, opaque color. Dark sour cherry fruit with hints of tobacco, jerky, wet leather and raw meat. High, juicy acidity, mature tannins and dark, black fruit. Long even finish and aromas of raw cocoa, black olives and corint grape.

I’m not a huge fan of Italian wine, but this was nice. PnP’d. Deep, dark red color. Refined nose. Rustic, complex wine with a lovely texture. Medium finish.

Have had the 2006 and 2008. The 2006 just hasn’t come together as well, seems particularly earthy, and kind of disjointed - hints of the fruit come through here and there but overall muddied. 2008 is noticeably better to me.

Nov 27th, 2020The definition of sagrantino! Tannins are still very upfront and in your face so decant for awhile or hold for several more years. Love these rustic wines.
