The first one i’ve had that is finally starting to open up. Dark as night in the glass and full of rich black fruit. Mild acidity and still medium but softening tannins make this a good wine for food. This threw a ton of sediment, had a full half glass of dregs leftover. — 6 years ago
One of the great names in World Wine IMO. This is the time it takes to cross from one side of the Vineyard to the other, so it's a relatively small property. Of their single Vineyard Pinots I tried to taste and buy the Judd which had Sold Out. This is the Wallis which possesses good structure. A little firm at present. Put it in the cellar. Had another another bottle 6 years later in late October 2023. Still has a firmness to the wine overall which it may never lose. Still enjoyable with savoury red fruits and Sous Bois. Have the last one in a year or two. 90 points. — 7 years ago

These are just starting to loosen up. Whether its the mountain fruit, the vintage, TRBs direction or all 3 with this wine they've taken a number of years to show much. Good with a 2 hr decant and improving for several more years. — 7 years ago
Definitely a TRB wine - tonnes of fruit packed into a little bottle, but not showing a fruitbomb ripeness. Incredibly intense and concentrated - to be expected of that favored Calistoga fruit of his, reminding me a bit of Wallis Family Seraphim smacking you in the teeth with gritty tannin. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with fresh aromas of blackberry and black plum, a bit of crushed rock, and bell pepper. The pallet is gritty and tight, exhibiting flavors of red apple skin, black currant, mocha, and an extreme grip to the finish. This wine either needs SEVERAL hours open to breath, or it needs 2 or 3 more years to relax before opening again.. excellent wine, but young. — 7 years ago
