Held up remarkably well. Golden. Tasty.
Winemaker's Comments: Crisp and fruity with hints of vanilla and pineapple in the bouquet. Balanced fruit and acid. Complex and mouthfilling. Fermented and aged in 60 gal. French oak barrels. 810 cases produced. Bottled August 1991. — 4 years ago
Quite powerful fruit and acidity. Aged well, lots of sediment required decanting. Some funk on the first night, gone on the second. Good, but not as good as the Paso Robles Syrah of previous years.
Winemaker's comment: Deep & dark. Classic Syrah bouquet w/ bright, spicy flavors. Rich & complex, fine finish. Unfined/unfiltered. Bottled May 2004. — 6 years ago
At Ventana Big Sur. Big oaky buttery. Kelly and I both loved it. Paired very well with our oyster mushrooms — a year ago
Interesting one from the 70s... seemed over the hill at first, but with some air it came back to life. Would have been great if it had a bit more fruit left.
Winemaker's Comment: 79% Cabernet Sauv. from Tepusquet; 17% Petite Sirah and 4% Merlot from Ventana Vineyards. Full, rich flavors & color. Unfined. Bottled March 1982. D.D.A. — 5 years ago
2013. Atypical, great chardonnay with a creamy mouth feel and hints of tropical fruits. — 6 years ago
Tonos y sabores a Manzana verde, cítricos y vainilla. Fresco como la brisa de una ventana después de un encuentro de sexo intenso!!!! — 4 years ago
Out of Magnum. Rich black plum, cooked rhubarb, ripe black cherries, pomegranate, raspberries, hint of sage, dry tumbleweed, tea, dusty limestone, soft spices, perfect acidity and a full minute finish. Perfect pairing is pulled pork sandwiches top with cole slaw. Sadly, the Phelps brother who once championed this wine doesn't anymore. The vineyards are owned by a Ventana company and it's not the same wine. — 5 years ago
Drank while at la ventana restaurant while looking out over Barcelona. Paired well with meats. — 6 years ago
CT gives it an 88, but it's a 90+ in my book! — 6 years ago
