14.3% ABV.
I’ve always had difficulties understanding how (some) critics can compare this to Burgundy.
Clos Saint-Denis or Clos de la Roche? For real?
I understand preference and reference points but enough with the nonsense.
This is uniquely California.
And as such it is STELLAR.

WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot!
One of my bottles. After getting these in a few weeks back, I was like a kid on Christmas to see how it was tasting. All the check marks for this to be a knockout in a few years. Wonderful red and black fruit medley with sharp acidity. Mineral/graphite on the palate and sandalwood. Toasted black cherries and ripe plum.

Great pinot noir, red fruit, floral. A little mellow, given the bottle age — no intense raspberries or fireworks or volcanic rock. A treat.

Seriously this good once it opens up. I had a Father’s Day cocktail bar the restaurant but had to bail on it after tasting this.

Had to pop a Marcassin to celebrate! FINALLY, after a few years of not hearing anything, got the 2013 Chardonnay offer this week and sounds like John is improving with his health issue.
1+ hour decant(some cloudy sediment). A remarkable dark crimson color. On the nose: strawberry, mushrooms, some sweet cherry, wet leaves, cinnamon, and earth. Taste: coming together versus our two previous bottles. A creamy, juicy medium plus body wine with cherry, spice, smoke, minerals, and a raspberry vanilla cedar finish....it still has a little tannic kick on the end. Cheers!
