Day 1: Not a better value in aged wine. Period. Green apple, slate, slate, slate and petrol intermingled with smoke and leather. Stunning nose. A bit tight out of the gates but uncoils over 30 minutes and become a symphony of aromas and a typical '96 Mosel with high acid, candied apple, almost apple-tini flavors. Lovely depth and purity. Remarkable wine.
Day 2: Nose is all candied apple/jellybaby with lovely slate and petrol. Almost a foie element as well. That smoke persists as well. Palate has terrific freshness and acids today with deep green apple fruit and a hint of sweetness. — 9 years ago
Really good Sangiovese! Deep red color, nice finish. — 4 years ago
Nice, black cherry with a tini of sweetness. Bought from Hiramatsu for about ¥2,500. — 5 years ago
I'd call it semi-dry. Not completely sweetless, but close to. For me - perfect degree of dryness. Light. No hint of sour aftertaste. No hint of spirit. "Easy" wine for any occasion. — 8 years ago
Just a tad lacking in body, but great flavor forward start. — 4 years ago
Piedmont wine tasting: light rusty ruby with bricking at the edges • fragrant, cherry pipe tobacco, roses, tar, oak • cherry liqueur, full bodied, silky tannins, 14.5% ABV • blend of Nebbiolo farmed organically, sourced from the two crus of Brunate and Le Coste in Barolo, fermented with indigenous yeast in tall upright oak vats or tini • the wine is singing right now — 6 years ago
Grown in the northwest of Sicily on 'terre brune' soil (rusty brown terroir of clay, chalk & iron). Guccione uses the noble Catarratto Extralucido clone here. Vinous wine, intens citrus & deeply salt. All with an intriguing edgyness. 'C' stands for the Cerasa vineyard. Fermented & aged for one year in tini (acacia wood cask of 3000 liter). — 9 years ago
