Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Medium garnet , ruby , with some lightening on the rim . Dark, slightly meaty nose , a bit alcoholic perhaps , grafite , iron filing earthy overtones slightly high toned . On the palate this has quite bright cassis , roasted red pepper , meaty , slight earthy , iron filing hint . Quite rich and rounded with some balanced acidity and slightly gritty tannin , a little heavy but not as much as I had feared from 15.2% alcohol . Quiet a lot of ripe dark fruits on the palate , blackberry , cassis , dark cherry. Quite a mouthful, though not subtle and not long on the palate either . Drink now and over the next 5 or so years , I don’t see this improving much. — 2 days ago

Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Double-decanted about two hours prior to service. The 2007 Galitzine pours a deep garnet color with a slightly tawny color towards the rim; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining and some signs of fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with ripe and slightly desiccated black fruits: blackberries, currants, black cherry, tobacco, chocolate, leather, earth, some vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acidity. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is long and pretty decadent. Considering the vintage, this had held up pretty well and even though it’s not really my style, it’s executed well. Drink now with a decant and through 2027. It might go longer but I don’t have enough experience with QC to understand the aging arc. There’s certainly no shortage of fruit. — 10 hours ago

Dark inky in color with a reddish rim.

Very pretty nose with black fruits, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, Indian spices, cola and light black tea.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, chocolates, toast, light vanilla, dark coffee, Indian spices, light cola licorice and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious 9 year old Merlot from Columbia Valley. Rich and extracted. Spicy and entertaining.

Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 3 hours of airtime.

Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Smooth and elegant. Fruit forward and tangy. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.

Good by itself as a sipping wine.

A blend of 75% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in (85% new) French Oak barrels.

14.9% alcohol by volume.
