Rose at Malcolm and Monique's - nice and subtle; very dry — 12 years ago
Red and black fruits - a savoury plum character - also a note of creosote and tar. A lovely medium to full bodied palate - reeks of old vine Barossa Shiraz. Drinks well now but will easily last until 2030. Malcolm Stopp is the Brand Ambassador for Peter Lehmann and his comments are worth repeating, particularly the last sentence, “The bouquet beautifully incorporates dark briary fruits, chocolate and a touch of aniseed, whilst the finish is firm yet finely grained. A wine of great dignity that will continue to improve with still many years of careful cellaring. If you don’t like this wine there’s bugger all we can do……!!! — a year ago

A serious Pinot after the frivolous fresh young uncomplicated Pinot from Bloody Hill (Mayer) in the Yarra Valley. Quite bold with strong red and black fruits of cherry strawberry and raspberry together with earthy mushroom like notes. Finishes with fine powdery tannins. An interesting back story to the origins of the Malcolm vineyard where cuttings from one of “Burgundy’s finest estates “ believed to be in Vosne Romanee were illegally brought from France. Now known as the Abel clone. See full story on the Ata Rangi website. Had my last bottle 111 weeks later on 30 August 2025. Full bodied, textural, dark fruited and certainly delicious. — 3 years ago
PnP’d. Should have given an hour decant. Medium red color. Is a cross between Pinot, Cab, and a Spanish red. Mix the Aubert Pinot I had the other night and Pontet Canet and you get close. Bright red fruit with plenty of oak. Perfect drinking age!! What a great gift and surprise!! Thanks Malcolm! — 5 years ago
Taste black cherry and something else I can’t quite place. — 8 years ago
Excellent sipper...elegant fruit forward opening with a crisp finish. Flows perfectly with my pecorino, brie and afternoon UVA basketball game on the tube...just sayin. Hints of pineapple and granny Smith apple...smooth like a Malcolm Brogdon jumper...Go Hoos — 11 years ago
Champagne at Malcolm and Monique's - really smooth - Debbie liked it. — 12 years ago

I have so little experience with and context for Barossa wines so it’s hard to rate this in a purely objective way - but enjoyed it. The nose is quite deep and goes on and on. Finish has some pokey oak but still refined. Clearly could use some time - better with some air. Nice wine. — 7 months ago
